Climate Action Fund Grant: Up to $2,500 for Climate Advocacy

About: The Climate Action Fund (CAF) offers grants to frontline community groups dedicated to preventing fossil fuel extraction and combating large sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Established as a grassroots alternative to carbon offset programs, CAF empowers communities to keep fossil fuels in the ground, supporting projects with significant positive climate mitigation impacts.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants are community groups engaging in:

  1. Local resistance to fossil fuel extraction (coal, tar sands, oil, gas).
  2. Efforts to prevent the construction of large greenhouse gas emission sources (>100,000 tons CO2). Priority is given to organizations with annual budgets under $150,000, particularly those representing communities of color and/or with limited access to resources. Projects should involve community organizing and ensure local community engagement in decision-making.

Apply: To request an application or inquire about funding possibilities, contact CAF at caf@ran.org. Completed applications can be emailed to the same address or mailed to Rainforest Action Network, c/o Climate Action Fund, 425 Bush Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94108. Applicants will be notified if short-listed within 4 weeks, with final decisions taking a bit longer.

Message: This is an opportunity for grassroots organizations fighting against climate change to receive crucial funding and support. Whether you’re preventing the extraction of fossil fuels or combating large emission sources, your project can make a difference. With a focus on community involvement and diversity, the CAF grant aims to empower impactful climate action. If your organization is making strides towards a sustainable future, consider applying!
